EchoSensing Selected for Korea's Space Pioneer Program — MIMO SAR Digital Beamforming Technology Development
Selected as a participating company in the national Space Pioneer Program for MIMO-based high-resolution wide-area SAR payload digital beamforming technology development. Responsible for SAR signal processing algorithm development.
EchoSensing has been selected as a participating company in the national Space Pioneer Program (스페이스파이오니어사업), joining a consortium tasked with developing MIMO-based high-resolution wide-area SAR payload digital beamforming technology.
The Space Pioneer Program is a 10-year national R&D initiative (2021–2030) led by the Korea AeroSpace Administration (KASA), aimed at developing 16 key space technologies across launch vehicles, satellite platforms, and satellite payloads. The program brings together industry, academia, and government research institutes in consortium-based partnerships, with the goal of achieving self-sufficiency in critical space technologies.
Within this project, EchoSensing is responsible for SAR signal processing algorithm development — a role that directly leverages the company's core expertise. EchoSensing's team has accumulated deep experience in SAR signal processing through participation in Korea's national satellite programs, including KOMPSAT-5, CAS300-2, and CAS500-5.
MIMO (Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) SAR represents a next-generation approach to satellite radar imaging, enabling both high resolution and wide-area coverage simultaneously — capabilities that are traditionally in a trade-off relationship. Digital beamforming is the key enabler of this technology, allowing flexible and efficient use of radar signals to achieve performance levels not possible with conventional SAR architectures.
This selection reinforces EchoSensing's position in Korea's satellite SAR ecosystem and adds a government-backed R&D program to the company's growing portfolio of national and commercial projects.
